HCL’s polymer clamping system, incorporating Smart® Tie or Smart Band Compact working in conjunction with Smart Protectors and Saddles to provide secure, fast, robust & cost-effective clamping in the downhole environment. HCL’s solution is used to attach a variety of cables including ESP, Fibre Optic, Capillary & Pneumatic lines to downhole tubing in both the Energy & Mining Sectors.
HCL's Smart Band product range has been used extensively in the Downhole environment. Applications are limitless but typical or common uses are as follows:
Both Smart Tie & Smart Band Compact are used to secure HCL’s Smart Protectors or cables directly in single or multiple configurations to the tubing. These High Strength Polymer straps are available in a variety of materials and sizes specified to suit the environment.
A range of cost effective injection moulded Cable Protectors designed to clamp and protect the cables as they are installed to the tubing. These products are material matched to the Polymer straps. HCL also provides bespoke protectors & saddles for the client’s unique downhole configurations.
The 3000 Pneumatic Combination Air Tool tensions and trims the polymer strap. This quiet, reliable and durable tool offers significant benefits including, reduced installation time in the red zone and consistent strap retention for the duration of any project.
Our range of polymer ties & protectors utilising PA12, PPS & PK materials are completely metal free and selected specifically to cope with the demanding chemical and temperature environments downhole.

Smart Protectors and Smart Ties were used to clamp a #2 Flat & ¼” Capillary lines at a depth of 7500ft,
32mm PPS Smart Band Compact is used to attach Toolserv’s F1 Clamp.
7500qty Smart Protectors and 32mm Smart Ties were used on 15 wells, to clamp and protect a #2 Round ESP Cable at a depth of up to 7000ft.
Bespoke PU Moulded Saddles, Smart Protectors & Smart Band Compact are used to control downhole equipment cables for the mine dewatering industry
5000qty Smart Protectors and 32mm Smart Ties were used on 20 wells, to clamp and protect a #6 Flat + ¼ “ Capillary Cable at a depth of up to 4000ft.
